Sel - Hótel Mývatn

The buffet dinner was very good, though breakfast was average. Our room was nice and comfortable, with a view, and the hotel is in a good location. The staff were kind and friendly. The bathroom, though, was unacceptable: the shower was large, but the basin was so tiny I couldn't fill even a small bottle or wash my face.

Breakfast was great, and we enjoyed the hotel. It was comfortable enough, with a nice hiking spot across the road. Some basic things were missing, like a microwave and fridge.

The staff were so helpful. They even wake guests during the night when the Northern lights are showing, a service we haven't found at any other hotel so far. This is the best hotel we've stayed at in Iceland. The home-brewed beer was excellent too. We'd love to come back!

The breakfast was fine, but the rest of the stay was an awful experience. The hotel felt dirty and gross, and the room was old. There was no refrigerator, and only one towel was included. It was very expensive for such poor service. When I told the front desk about some of my reservations, the employee was smug and smirked. I accidentally booked the wrong day and contacted them ten minutes later, hoping to switch dates. They refused to refund me or change the booking, so we had to book for two days. I figured that was probably my fault. I won't be going back. Hopefully you can find another hotel in the area. This place seems to put in little effort because there's not much competition.
