Rauðaberg II

The building looks rough from the outside, but indoors it was tidy and clean. Our room was the largest, and I’d recommend booking it over one of the small ones. The area was very quiet, as were the other guests, and the showers and bathrooms were nice.

The kitchen was old but still worked, and check-in was simple: the reservation name was on the door and the key was left in it. Getting here means driving about 3 km along a rough gravel road. The big room is definitely worth choosing for its lovely view.

We had a room looking toward the glaciers, which was really nice, and the heating worked well. The hostel has a shared kitchen and two shared bathrooms. I do wish there were a door on the kitchen. We arrived late and hungry, but felt awkward using it because sound carries and we didn't want to disturb guests who were already asleep.

We came as a family and used three rooms. It’s a little off the main route, though not by much, and the place was neat and clean. The shared kitchen and bathrooms were good, and the views were lovely. Sheep were right outside the windows, so after counting them to fall asleep, we woke to their sounds.
