Hotel Eden Riviera

The lovely view makes it worth asking for a room that faces it. The hotel is up a hill, though, so people with sciatica, leg trouble, or heart problems should keep that in mind. The rooms are basic and the hotel needs modernising. Breakfast was average, apart from a delicious grape jam, and the staff were pleasant. Would I come back? I'm not sure, perhaps just for a stopover.

We really enjoyed our two weeks here. The place looks tired and dated at first, but it's clean, the sheets and towels are changed daily, and the pool is a treat. The staff are lovely. I'd highly recommend hiring a car at the airport to get around.

It makes a good base for exploring the area by car and offers good value. The terrace has brilliant views, and the outdoor pool is nicely tucked away. The hotel has clearly lost some of its former shine since its heyday in the 60s and 70s, and it's a bit off the beaten track these days, but still has a certain charm. It's clean and tidy, and the staff are obliging.

This was the only bad experience on our trip around Sicily. The hotel advertises a nice swimming pool, but it wasn't working when we visited on 1st of May. We asked the staff if there were other options nearby, but they didn't tell us about any, even though there's a public pool close by and also Etnalandia, like Gardaland park. I wouldn't recommend staying here. For 3-star rates, I expected better. The hotel feels very old-fashioned, with old carpets on the floors, and the staff weren't friendly. They gave us the TV remote at reception, like in the old days, even though the TV looked at least 15 years old. The woman with glasses seemed like a robot, with no smile or flexibility.
