From the road, the place doesn't look like much, tucked behind big gates. Then you get inside and see the sea and Cyclops coast, and the journey seems to fade away. It was a lovely way to visit Sicily for the first time. The room was great, and the sea view from there and from the breakfast room was spectacular. We spent quite a bit of time sitting on the covered balcony watching the water. There's also a pool. When I wrote this, they were setting up a cocktail and sushi bar in the garden. The owner was lovely, and her son, Frederico, knew a lot about the local area and Catania. Thanks for all your help!

That terrace right above the waterfront is beautiful, and the hotel's location is its biggest plus, with an exceptional view. At this time of year the seafront is peaceful and lovely. The welcome was another story: the hostess was inhospitable and nearly irritating. Asking for the tourist tax is fair, but refusing to pay it by POS came across as arrogant and out of line. Breakfast was mediocre, anonymous, and poor quality.
