Palazzo Pozzillo

We spent six happy days here. Thank you to the wonderful Zora, Franz, and everyone who helps keep this haven going. Palazzo Pozzillo has a rare mix of plain simplicity, modesty, class, and good taste. The landscape is quiet, with nature all around and the steady sound of waves against the cliffs. Nearby, Sicilian village houses are scattered around a small boat bay where people still live their everyday lives. It feels like a piece of the past, without much sign of tourism turned into an industry. The dinners are another part of the experience. Guests who want to join share long, lovely meals that stretch across several courses and hours. Zora and Franz brought a Parisian tradition with them, while the food is carefully made from local ingredients and cuisine, with an artist's touch. People who arrive as strangers end up talking openly and wholeheartedly over wine, letting go of that first sense of distance. Alison and Tony, how are you? In a setting like this, with the calm surroundings and the easy connection between people, the world feels like a good place to live. Magnifico, Palazzo Pozzillo!

Perched on the cliffs above the sea, Palazzo Pozzillo lets you wake to the sunrise and the sound of the waves. It's a very special place, and Zora and Franz make everyone feel at home. They prepare breakfast and sometimes dinner using fresh local Sicilian products. I'd recommend joining the meal at the long table with the other guests at least once. It's some of the best food we've ever had.

The place faces the sea, so you can watch both the sunrise and moonrise. There's plenty of gear for snorkeling and exploring the water, and you can book boat trips to see the surrounding area from the sea.
