Hotel Valentino

We spent four nights here during a tour. By today's standards, it's an average hotel. The beds were a bit too hard for us, the AC didn't work, and the bathroom door scraped the floor and made a lot of noise when opening or closing. The restaurant's dinner could be improved a lot. The area felt a bit rough and sad. Since the pandemic, the spa and other hotels have shut down, and many buildings have been left abandoned and decaying.

The beds were comfortable enough, the bathroom was spacious, and the Wi-Fi worked decently. We also had free parking in an underground garage. Still, I personally wouldn't stay here again, even if it may be a good deal for the price. We were in town for a wedding and ran into several problems. Our room was uncomfortably hot when we arrived, and I was shocked to learn the property wouldn't offer air conditioning until “next month.” The onsite restaurant was closed, and many nearby places were shut on Monday and Tuesday or wouldn't open until June. We visited in May, so one day we were left with just a vending machine unless we drove somewhere else. Sound carried badly between the rooms and hallway. We could hear everyone walking and talking, which made it really hard to sleep. The worst part was the smell outside, like sewage or rotten eggs. I gagged every time we walked out to the car.

It wasn't the best hotel I've stayed in, but it wasn't bad either. A few minor repairs are needed here and there.

The room was well kept, and we had ample parking for our rental car. We could walk to the huge public pool or the Roman ruins if we wanted. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and almost all of them could assist us in English, which mattered to us. Breakfast had a hearty, delicious variety, though it was more or less the same each day.
