Batarà B&B

We found paradise. ♥️ We decided on the spur of the moment to spend a night in beautiful Agrigento and were lucky to find a room in this lovely, warm B&B. Breakfast on the terrace, looking out over the sea, was amazing, tasty and so generous. What a shame you can only give five stars. Grazie mille, Christine e Marc.

The shower had very little water pressure, and the hairdryer wasn't working. Our stay was just one night, so it didn't cause us much trouble. If you're bringing a large suitcase and staying on an upper floor, though, expect a lot of stairs.

Room 5 was comfortable and furnished with good taste, in a well-kept old palazzo above the center of old Agrigento. The balcony view was the best we've ever had from a hotel anywhere in the world. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was very good, with lots of Italian breakfast cakes as well as healthier choices. The location is lovely, though steep, narrow paths and stairs make it unsuitable for people with disabilities.

The breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean, but the owners only showed up at breakfast. We didn't find anyone to greet us, offer help or give information, unlike at the other places where we stayed. Getting uphill to the building was hard, then we had four flights of stairs to reach our room. Units 1 and 2 start around the equivalent of a fourth floor, and there's no elevator. That isn't convenient for older travelers or families with children. To me, this suits younger people without kids or too much luggage who don't mind the stair climb. There was no kitchen or refrigerator for keeping things overnight, and if you have a car, parking is about 0.5 mile away. I probably wouldn't stay again.
