Villa La Lumia B&B Suites & Apartments

The plantation was what we loved most, such a welcome change from city life. Breakfast was enough, and the hotel is close to the temples as well as the city centre. There’s an outer gate to the villa, which made us feel very safe. Definitely one of my favourite places from our Sicily trip. I’d return if I come back to Agrigento!

The gardens were a real eden, with lemon, lime, olive and other trees, plus a lovely view of the temples. We had a gorgeous honeymoon at Villa La Lumia. Check-in and parking were easy, and the Valley of the Temples and lots of restaurants were very close. Our room was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious too. I can’t praise our stay highly enough, and we’d love to come back.

We wanted more time here and wished we’d booked another night. The gardens and view of Valle of the Templi were gorgeous. Inside, the decor was very tasteful, and it was quiet, comfortable and peaceful.

We chose this Agrigento property for its countryside setting and views of the Valley of the Temples, and it does have old charm. Our suite was in a converted stable. But serious cleanliness and maintenance problems marred our two-night stay. After we checked in, we came back to find what looked like animal droppings in the dirty shower. The owner and his father said heavy rain and local sewer issues were to blame. We accepted that explanation because we had no proof of anything else. At 5 AM I found a rat in the bathroom. I locked it in and recorded the scratching from outside the door. The owner's son first denied it, but the video and wood chips on the floor confirmed it was there. We were moved to another room, though we were too worried about another rodent encounter to sleep comfortably. The new room looked very nice, but its shower, like the first one, drained poorly and backed up when used. The staff were polite, but the property is large and seems understaffed. The upkeep and rodent problem were unacceptable. The beautiful setting doesn't make up for basic hygiene and safety concerns.
