We arrived much too early after driving through the night, but they found us an apartment we could check into early. We ended up extending our stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and it turned into a relaxed, stress-free family holiday. The resort is made up of modern timber and stone chalets divided into apartments, with traditional timber details inside. There are different accommodation options, and our place was clean, spacious and functional, with modern facilities and a kitchenette. Parking was good. It’s 1.5 miles down the valley from Alagna Valsesia, with a complimentary shuttle running every half hour. Thanks, Pietre Gamelle Resort, what a great find.

The resort is cleverly designed like a small hamlet, using the original local architectural style. It looks lovely and sits in harmony with its surroundings. This is what good architecture should do: fit in without standing out and permanently changing the character of an area, as happens in so many other places.

The staff were welcoming and courteous, but the room itself was small, with a kitchen that felt unnecessarily oversized. We paid €135 for a very uncomfortable, low-cost sofa bed. The room was next to reception, so it felt like staying in a concierge area, and we couldn’t open the window curtain.

We were upset when we missed the Staffal ski lift and had to stay in the Alagna valley, but finding this great hotel for the night changed things. It was a family of three, and even though we arrived late, the receptionist was incredibly friendly and did everything she could to lift our spirits. She even offered to drive us to a restaurant she recommended. The restaurant was great too. Thanks so much!

We loved the room, and the host was so warm. The area is beautiful, and we had everything we needed. Netflix was there for the two rainy days when we just relaxed. We’ll definitely come back!❤️
