B&B la Rosa Dei Venti

The sea was lovely, with clean water, a comfortable temperature, a gently sloping beach, and a few waves. I felt safe throughout, and the Carabinieri patrolled often. Bagni Manin also gets top marks from me: the staff were kind, relaxed, and helpful, and the beach was well kept with the facilities you need. There was even a small safe under the umbrella, which made me feel better about swimming. The main letdown was breakfast. It used to be served at the beach, so you had to get dressed, eat, then go back to change and collect your beach things. That wasn’t the real issue, though. The serving was just a cappuccino, an average croissant, juice, and literally one spoonful of yogurt. Even with the staff’s effort, that made for a meager start to the day. The beach kiosk’s food was another weak point. They don’t cook, and what little they serve is prepared food at the same prices as fresh options available a few meters away. The location is fantastic, just steps from the beach and on a city street full of bars. The rooms are in a small apartment collection, but they’re small, very clean, carefully kept, and welcoming. The owner greeted us warmly, explained everything, held our bags while she got the rooms ready, and gave us the keys. Our room was more than big enough and had a table, wardrobe, desk, and what we needed. The bathroom was small but adequate, though there wasn’t much space for toiletries and the toilet seat was wobbly. The bed had two single mattresses pushed together, which might have been fine if they were the same height. The sheets were fantastic, soft, fresh, and clearly clean. The owner is very kind, though she has her complaints. On the first day she objected to us bringing some sand into the room. We’re by the sea, but fair enough, we tried to be careful. We’d forgotten our beach towels, so we borrowed some. She didn’t want them taken outside because they might get ruined, and offered to sell us towels at a discount. Honestly, she could have let it go, but they were hers and she had the right to ask us not to take them off the premises. They were incredibly soft and smelled great, and we wouldn’t have damaged them, but okay. She clearly cares a lot about her little establishment, perhaps a bit too much at times. She came in to clean every day, even when we hadn’t asked, and sometimes moved things. Parking isn’t nearby, so expect to spend a while looking for a spot and then walk. Even after reaching the area, we couldn’t find the place because Maps didn’t show it properly. A very kind guy from the beach club it works with took me there. It has a small gray sign on a gray background beside a small gray door, and I wouldn’t have found it on my own. When I go on vacation, I hope for a dream breakfast buffet with enough sweet and savory food to fill me up. I’d choose a different destination next time, paying more attention to breakfast. Still, the room, location, bathroom, and owner are all perfectly adequate for a good stay.
