Diana Grand Hotel

Last year we were really happy here, which makes this change disappointing. Since the new owners took over, both the food and service have gone downhill. The waiters are very arrogant, and if you want seafood, you have to book it ahead, even when the place looks half empty. They still act like they’re doing you a favor by serving you.

The price was far too high for what we got, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Our room was in a separate building and looked nothing like the online photos. It felt old and unpleasant, and construction directly above us woke us early every morning with a lot of noise. The railway also kept waking us at night, so relaxing in the room was out of the question. The restaurant was expensive for its small portions, and service was poor, with staff who were neither polite nor attentive. For this money, you can find a newer, nicer place in central Alassio. It doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel.

There were plenty of empty tables in the outdoor seating area, yet they insisted we sit by the road instead of by the beach. The choice was that or leave. Take your money somewhere else.

The location is nice, but the service is a disaster. At dinner it was very slow, and the maitre scolded a waiter in front of the guests, which I found highly unethical. We also had to wait too long for the juices to be replenished at breakfast. Given the food and service quality, the prices are quite high.
