Hotel Eden Alaxi Hotels

We spent five nights at Hotel Eden over the 2023/24 New Year break, with our family group spanning teenagers, their parents and their grandmother. Everyone liked the relaxed, easygoing charm of this welcoming three-star hotel, in a quiet stretch of Alassio right on the seafront. I’m posting late because I was ill. Breakfast was a pleasure in the heated, enclosed veranda, with a panoramic view across the bay. There was a generous range of good sweet and savoury food, homemade cakes and fruit salad that was refreshed often. The coffee was excellent. Even some four-star hotels only have self-service machine coffee, so having proper Italian coffee brought to the table, with refills whenever we wanted, made a real difference. The waiting staff were attentive and kept the buffet stocked. The hosts at reception, Francesco and Martin, welcomed us warmly and were ready to answer our many questions about the area. The other staff were good-natured too, and the hotel was spotlessly clean. The wicker beach furniture was left out for guests day and night, a thoughtful touch. It was lovely to sit there watching the sea lap the shore, with the basket work sheltering us from the wind. Every day, the hotel also set out tables and chairs along the seafront, another nice spot to enjoy the view and watch people pass by. Next time, we’ll avoid the double bedroom overlooking the alley. It was bare and undecorated, unlike the other room, which had nice wallpaper. My single room facing the sea felt like it belonged to the turn of the 19th/20th century. I liked its traditional wooden shutters on the outside. It was small, but had everything I needed and plenty of electrical sockets. We hope to return soon.

The beach beds were well organized, and the staff were friendly. We loved the superb food and the wonderful location. Our two-week stay was unforgettable.

The rooms are clean and a little dated, though still great for the price. The receptionist is a national treasure and deserves protecting at all costs.
