Residence Caffé Savona

We chose this apartment based on its reviews and rating, but it was much worse than expected. There was no hand soap, and when we asked reception, they suggested using shampoo. The thermostat was locked at +19C, which felt cold with the outside temperature around +5C. We'd been promised parking for an extra fee, but none was available, so we had to drive around and use paid parking quite far from the building. Our corner room on the top floor had no Wi-Fi in the bedroom. Also, there's no elevator, so hauling heavy luggage to the highest floor could be a workout. At least the listing didn't advertise a gym.

The room itself was pleasant and clean, but it was on the second floor and there's no elevator. The AC is weak and could be an issue on a hot day. There was a strong vinegar smell in the room, and staff couldn't help with it. Reception is open just five hours a day and mostly handles check-in. When we asked for recommendations and help with reservations, they sent us to the tourist information center. We also had nowhere to leave our luggage after checkout.

The air conditioning doesn't work, despite being advertised, and there's no check-in or luggage drop before 3 pm. Travelers should know there are no reminders or warnings, and no flexibility for arriving a little early.

This works fine if you think of it as an Airbnb, but it's hard to manage if you expect a hotel. The place looks modern, but the heater doesn't work. The staff are friendly, though they're only around from 15:00 to 19:00. If you know the area well and are happy to stay somewhere that feels like home, it may be acceptable.
