They canceled my December 31, 2024 reservation, which I'd made through Booking, and it was a terrifying experience. The message said that, as explained in an earlier email, price containment laws meant they couldn't cover the difference for alternatives beyond the ones they had mentioned, unless the difference was no greater than the price of those alternatives. They acknowledged that the owner's cancellation request might cause inconvenience with check-in only a few weeks away, and hoped I'd find something suitable. I've never had an owner cancel a Booking reservation saying they'd miscalculated the price. With New Year's Eve in Alghero in high demand, I had to scramble for another place, and it certainly didn't meet my expectations. I think I'll contact a consumer protection association.

I didn't have much time to waste. After I booked through Booking.com, an email arrived saying the owner had canceled the reservation for some unknown reason.

We really appreciated how kind the hostess was. The bathroom was roomy, with soap and a hairdryer, and there was a balcony for hanging clothes. The bed was huge and comfortable. Breakfast included pastries, coffee or tea, juice and yogurt. It's about a 20-minute walk to the center, and I thought the value for money was perfect.

It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk to the center and historic center, through some very strange neighborhoods, and it's a long way out. The woman treated us badly and tried to charge us for an airport taxi she never provided. It arrived half an hour late, so we'd already taken the bus, which was much better value.

The area was quiet and close to the center, and there was a gluten-free breakfast menu. The rooms were very spacious and extremely clean. Monica and Carlo made us feel at home the whole time. Grazie mille per tutto ;)
