The location near Alghero's old town is handy for a night or two, but I wouldn't stay longer. We were there in August, and the AC kept switching off during the night, so we woke up sweating. On the first morning they said it had been repaired, and the next day they said they'd changed the settings, but it still happened both nights. By the third morning we were trying to cancel the last couple of nights and move to another hotel. Instead, they blamed us for not understanding that the AC turns off in the middle of the night. We ended up staying somewhere else in Alghero for the final two nights and couldn't get a refund. The guesthouse was poor value in high season, and the customer service left a bad taste in our mouth. Breakfast is fine, and it's nice that they offer it, but it's basically one croissant, another piece of bread, orange juice and coffee. There are lots of croissants to choose from, and you can get a cappuccino with non-dairy options. It's enough in a pinch or to tide you over. There's paid parking, otherwise you have to wander the streets looking for a spot. The room was very dark during the day, but at night we had to cover the windows with clothes because we faced the street with all the lights on. You can see that in my photo, taken at night.

We had a great time in Alghero. The building looks beautiful inside and out, and it made us think of a castle. Now we're curious about its history. The staff were really friendly, and the location was perfect. Breakfast was an Italian-style croissant-crème with cappuccino and fresh orange juice. Thank you so much!

I booked because it said breakfast was included, so I found this very misleading. The location is good, but the “breakfast” is just a few choices at a nearby bar, and that's all.

The hotel itself is good, but if you want a proper breakfast, avoid it. The food was mediocre, and the waiters' courtesy might have made up for that, but it didn't. One waiter, who only vaguely looks like Antonio Banderas, had tattoos and a goatee and showed very little politeness or respect for good manners. Maybe they're in the process of reintegrating into society, so let's not blame them.

The rooms were spacious and good quality, and it's a very nice hotel. But checking out was a real disappointment. The receptionist insisted that I pay the city tax and room service in cash, even though the card machine was right there on the desk. I asked if I could use my bank card, but she wouldn't accept it. I then spent 45 minutes going around town looking for an ATM, which was a hassle on holiday with a tight schedule. Very poor form.
