Breakfast was a lovely buffet with fresh local baked goods, fruit, meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereal, and, of course, cafe. Shops, cafes, and restaurants are close by, and the rooms combine modern conveniences with the feel of an ancient palace in the middle of the centro storico. The family and staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to work around our different arrival times. A few friends and I had a wonderful stay on a recent trip to Puglia. Altamura also made an excellent base for seeing many sites in southern Puglia and Basilicata.
