Masseria La Meridiana

You do need a car to get here, since La Meridiana sits among farms. Still, we had a very pleasant stay. The place is new and spotless, and our hosts were kind and helpful. I’d recommend it.

The comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, and clean rooms were the best parts of our stay. I wouldn’t recommend the property or come back, though. We were 15 people in four families, including seven young children, and the welcome felt more like a list of warnings than a welcome. The owners knew when we’d arrive, but the rooms and shared areas were cold, even though it was already chilly outside. We were told repeatedly not to touch the thermostat or damage anything, in a way that felt needlessly irritating, as if we were a school class. One room had no working heat. That can happen, but the owners first blamed a guest for tampering with it, then admitted the heating hadn’t been working. Breakfast was another disappointment. The lady asked what time we’d be in the dining room, but the table was bare and sad, unlike the varied, plentiful breakfast described in reviews. Two buffet croissants had been cut in half, which I found absurd, and the water was limited to a half-liter carafe filled from the tap. A little more thought for guests would have helped, especially with children in our group.

The lady made us feel like family, and we had such a lovely stay. Our room was perfect and breakfast was excellent. It’s a great base for exploring the area, and my son was especially pleased with the thoughtful gift she gave us for the trip.

We still think fondly of our two nights with Victoria and Leonardo. The hosts were so warm and ready to take care of us. Out in the Italian countryside, the place was peaceful, with beautiful, clean rooms.
