The views from every window were incredible, and the house was lovely, clean, and a great place to stay. We spent five nights there at the beginning of September. The beds were really comfortable, with crisp sheets, and Walter gave us useful directions and suggestions when he checked us in. Having a washing machine was a big plus. There wasn’t any detergent, so we bought some at the shop 200 steps up. Bring your own toiletries, as none were provided. We walked down about 1,000 steps to Amalfi beach every day. It took around 20 minutes and wasn’t too bad. For the return, I’d suggest the bus, about 15 minutes and €1.40. You can walk back up, too, but take it slowly and bring water. I did it in about 40 minutes from the beach, stopping lots of times for photos, while my husband and kids opted out. I snacked on figs along the way, which were delicious. The tap water is drinkable, though not very cold. The fountains have cold drinking water if you want to refill your bottles.

Warm locals are along both routes from this beautiful home above Amalfi. The views are breathtaking, and the cozy place and generous host made it a lovely holiday refuge. Access is by stone stairs only: 180 steps from the luggage drop-off to the garden gate, then 676 more through terraced orchards to the outskirts of Amalfi.

The apartment, views, and incredibly warm host made this a great place to stay. It takes 150 steps to reach the house, but it’s totally worth it.

Getting down to Amalfi from just outside the gate is a dream. It took us about 30 minutes and was much easier on our knees and calf muscles, ending at The NH Collection Hotel. Going up to Gerrys Bar or the bus was exhausting and took around 20-25 minutes on average once we’d got used to the stairs. The apartment is delightful, and the landlord was super friendly and kindly helped with our luggage.

We visited in mid-November and everything was wonderful. They welcomed us, showed us around, and explained how everything worked. The place was very clean, the service was top-notch, and the terrace view felt like looking out from a yacht cockpit. The Ho Chi Minh Trail is amazing. Once you get the hang of it, pretty much everything is easy to reach.
