Hotel Luna Convento

The pool and access to the sea are hard to beat, and the friendly staff were always ready to help. Hotel Luna is a five-star hotel in my book. It's a short walk from the town center and ferry ports, with other towns easy to reach on short ferry rides. We went to Positano for the day without paying its high hotel prices, and also took day trips to other towns. Set on a hill, the hotel has great views of the Mediterranean and Amalfi. It's a historic convent converted into a hotel while keeping its history, close to everything yet tucked away enough to relax by the pool or beach. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea was delicious. We had dinner there too, and the food and service were great. On a clear night we sat on the outside terrace, looking over town as a bright, beautiful moon lit the sea. I finally understood why it's called "Luna". The rooms were great, too.

We left Hotel Luna Convento already dreaming about coming back. My husband and I visited this June, and the stay was everything I hoped for and more. The staff were gracious, warm and attentive in a way that felt genuine, and their kindness made the experience unforgettable. The seawater pool across the street was my favorite, built into the cliff above the Mediterranean like a little secret paradise. We also loved the quiet afternoon cocktail hour in the flower-filled courtyard, a lovely pause in the soft light. The hotel still has the calm, reflective spirit of its monastery days, in the stone walls and cloistered courtyard. The views were breathtaking. Our accommodations suited us perfectly, comfortable and charming with an authentic Amalfi feel. Breakfast was another highlight. The coastal views were spectacular, and the variety and quality exceeded expectations, from fresh fruit and pastries to savory choices. Every detail felt cared for. We left with full hearts and lasting memories.

A lovely place to relax and enjoy a little luxury. The pool and sea access are hard to beat, the rooms are great, and the staff are high caliber. Be sure to stop by the courtyard around 1800 for a great cocktail from a talented bartender before heading out for the evening. It's perfectly placed between Amalfi and Atrani, so we could walk to either town during our multi-night stay.

The pool and sea access really make this beautiful hotel, and the lifeguards were kind and had good food recommendations, including Atrani. We enjoyed evening cocktails in the courtyard, and breakfast had a great selection. Dinner at the hotel was average, but convenient. One real concern, though: please move the turtles in the courtyard. Their enclosure is so small and there's no proper land space for them to rest. A tip before carrying your luggage up the steep hill by the water: take the tunnel in the downtown area. It runs inside the cliff, is shaded, safe and protected, and less steep. It comes out at the top of the hill by the hotel, and you'll probably use it every time you go down into Amalfi. (see pic)
