Villa Amalfi in Amalfi

Nice enough, though it felt touristy.

Gaia was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful while we were there. She was always available and gave us recommendations we really appreciated. The location was excellent and very convenient. Unfortunately, the property needs significant maintenance. One villa's toilet barely flushed, and the hot water kept varying during showers. The kettle or water boiler and hair dryer also didn't work properly. The apartment wasn't especially clean and smelled strongly of humidity. Most upsetting, one guest woke up covered in numerous small worms. That was extremely unpleasant and shouldn't happen to guests. The host was wonderful, but the property's condition fell short of what we expected. It really needs maintenance.

The view was fantastic, and that's what the one star is for. I can't recommend the rest. The rooms weren't clean, and the door handles were sticky with dirt. The landlady was very unreliable. She arrived hours late for the agreed handover, despite knowing the street was a strict no-parking zone and that other residents would immediately call the Carabinieri and have cars towed. The garage cost €35, which was overpriced and unacceptable. We weren't given a key, so we had to call the landlord every time we wanted to leave.

The owner, Antonio, was very kind and attentive. My west-facing apartment had a fully equipped kitchen, Wi-Fi, and a welcome breakfast, and everything was spotlessly clean. From the bedroom window, I watched the sunrise and, in the evening, the moonlight on the sea looked like a painting. The terrace has loungers, so you can enjoy the sea at any time. At night, sitting there and watching the coastline sparkle was enchanting. I found the place authentic and functional, with an unforgettable view. Highly recommended.
