Zia Pupetta Suites

We'd confirmed the booking and paid in full, and had told the property we'd arrive late. Nobody got back to us. There was no explanation, help, refund, or attempt to sort things out, just silence. This felt like serious negligence, close to fraud. Avoid the place.

We lost both time and money here. After we told reception we'd arrive late, I called and was told the staff would leave at 6:30pm. We still tried knocking, but nobody answered. People at the nearby hotel and restaurant also said Zia staff usually leave at 6:30pm. I called the hotel again and again with no answer, so we left and booked one night at Hotel Amalfi. Zia didn't refund our fee. Trip.com contacted the hotel, then their customer service told us the charge was non-refundable. Rubbish service, rubbish hotel.

Getting any sleep here is tough. The square gets extremely loud, so I'd only stay if you're happy being up very late. The location itself is great, though. In August, the AC listed on the website wasn't working. Check-in hours were very limited, but we kept in touch while on the way and they waited for us because the shuttle took a longer route to Amalfi.

Our room was the little brown top window in the daytime photo of the church. The location is just ace, and the room was lovely. There are low ceiling beams, so you need to watch your head. Yes, there's a flight of steps, but as a healthy man over 50 I found carrying our 23kg case up them manageable, and you only do it once when you arrive. The fridge didn't work at first, but they replaced it on the third night.
