I spent summers at our family home in Amatrice, and whenever I get the chance to return, I can’t get there fast enough. It’s my Euro Disney. This is a lovely place to live, with friendly, helpful people and a real sense of community. The farmhouse is family run, clean and tidy, about a three-minute drive from the centre. The restaurant serves delicious food and good conversation, and you’ll leave completely full. The mountain views are spectacular, and Amatrice has so much history and is famous for its cuisine. There are lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and great mountain hikes nearby. I’ve walked up Monte Gorzano, just over 2,800 m. At the top there’s a cross, and at its foot a book to sign, with your visit registered in the comune. Bring a jacket, food, and water. Ask the local proloco for advice or a guide. My cousin Roberto di Filippo is a licensed guide and knows a lot about the wildlife. Brown bears have been introduced back into the area; there are also wolves and some snakes, so use common sense. You can come home with great memories, a full tummy, and already wanting to return. Have fun and stay safe. Roma is two hours away, L'Aquila, Rieti, and Ascoli Piceno are 45 minutes away, and San Benedetto del Tronto beach is ten minutes beyond Ascoli.

We loved the outdoor spa, with its sauna and big hot tub for six, and the room had modern furnishings plus a private garden that felt completely peaceful. They even left a bottle of prosecco as a welcome. Service was friendly and professional, and the stay was flawless. Breakfast was generous, with high-quality pastries and a properly made espresso and cappuccino instead of drinks from the usual pod machines. The arrangement with the local restaurant was another big plus. It felt truly all-inclusive, with excellent food and no menu restrictions or extra savings. We could choose freely from every course, side dishes, and drinks, even the more elaborate or expensive options, and everything was excellent. An authentic, generous, top-notch experience. Highly recommended!

They had decorated the rooms especially for our Valentine’s weekend, and we felt pampered. We unwound in the hot tub and sauna, looking out at the snow-covered mountains, then had an excellent dinner at the restaurant with incredibly generous portions. The service was excellent too. I highly recommend a stay here. You can relax while helping support this beautiful area.
