Agriturismo Surripa

Mr. Fausto was affable and a lovely host. He even gave me a brief account of the place’s history. The service was impeccable, and this was my first visit, but certainly not my last. My family and I really enjoyed the food, especially the sauces and the Chianina and wild boar meats. The tiramisu and mille-feuille with custard were very good too. We ate in a rustic dining room with distinctive pieces like halberds, scales, and paintings of nature and animals. Outside, deer and fallow deer graze in a large enclosure, and the fallow deer come over if you hold out a branch with green leaves.

The food is high quality and carefully made. The place itself is beautiful, tucked away in the Umbrian woods.

Outside, there are lots of fenced animals to see, and I thought the wine pictured went perfectly with the whole meal, with its rich earthy flavors. The food is worth a visit, made with simple, authentic ingredients and cooked beautifully. The restaurant feels almost remote among all the greenery, but it’s very pleasant. Inside, it’s simple and well cared for, with real taste and plenty of wood in the beams, chairs, and tables. It made us feel at home. I highly recommend it!

Mr. Fausto was so friendly that we felt at home. We had dinner on Saturday at El Merendero restaurant at the Surripa farmhouse in Amelia, with traditional Umbrian dishes, including an outstanding platter of homemade cured meats. Recommended, and we’ll definitely return.
