Really bad place, and the staff were even worse.

The good points were the price, a reasonably clean room, a nice bathroom with a large shower, and a kind, helpful manager. Breakfast wasn’t a standard buffet, but it was still good: croissants, coffee, water, juice, yogurt, and toast. The B&B is two rooms in the owner’s apartment in a condominium, rather than a building of its own. During our three-night stay, the room was never cleaned and the towels weren’t changed. At checkout, the owner said we’d stained the towel and sheets with sunscreen. The marks were red, which seemed like an unusual color for sunscreen. He said the stains only appeared after washing the towel, though we’d checked the room before leaving and everything had been spotless. The explanation seemed absurd to us, and that’s why I’m giving a low rating. As for the location, it’s convenient by car or bus, but not ideal for getting around on foot because the city has so many hills.

The room was very clean, and the owner was kind and helpful. I had a great stay and recommend it for a short visit like mine.

The room itself had a perfectly fine bed, and the outside noise was mostly kept down by the double doors, though you do hear the fire station across the street and people talking in the morning. The owner had decorated the place with lovely plants. We stayed August 13th to 16th, and the trip started with a 1.5-hour delay, so we arrived later than planned after some confusion. We called and the owner came quickly, explained things, and showed us the room. There were just two beds and no chairs. The balcony was empty, so it wasn't the relaxing spot for evening wine we'd imagined. We also had to dry our swimwear on hangers for two days because there was no rack. On Tuesday we went shopping and switched on the air conditioning because the room was extremely warm. When we came back an hour later, the owner had already turned it off. On other days we kept the hatch down and that kept the heat out well, so it might help to tell guests about that before they arrive. The room didn't cool off in the evening, so we slept with the air conditioning. The temperature was manageable, but there were no blankets, just sheets. The kitchen entrance had been blocked off, which made getting to the terrace on that side awkward. We had taken two cups for drinks and brought some light snacks, a plate and a knife, but even opening our Birra Morretti bottle became a challenge. On Thursday, the Assumption of Mary, we hadn't been told everything would be closed. We found out ourselves, and were glad we'd stocked up the day before at the Coop supermarket, steeply downhill just across from the apartment. We ended up having a picnic in the room, using a bedside table and sitting on the bed. A folding table and chair outside might be useful. The bathroom stayed terribly warm, though the extractor worked well. There was no shelf, no shower products for my wife despite the listing, and the shower head was low and couldn't be adjusted. Anyone taller than 1.78m has to bend to wash their hair. Towels were clean and smelled fresh. Breakfast was three croissants for two adults, some crackers, Nutella and jam, with coffee or tea and orange juice/water. Ancona is easy to get around by bus, but bring plenty of 1- and 2-euro coins. Driving from the airport into town is a nightmare because not everything connects. I think the price is too high for what's provided. If I'd read all the reviews more carefully, I'd have chosen another B&B, especially since this one offered airport transfers.

The owner is friendly, and the place is fairly central with a bus stop nearby. But this is a house with two rooms for rent, not really a B&B. The room wasn't cleaned during our stay, and breakfast was basic rather than a buffet. Be cautious with some creams, too: the owner says they often leave red marks on the sheets, apparently only visible after washing.
