Ego Hotel

I was there for one night on a business trip and enjoyed the stay. The hotel is clean, modern and nice, though the staff were a little unfriendly in one case, just one man at reception. You might get a good sea view if you're lucky. There’s a railway track nearby, so you could be woken during the night.

The highlight for me was dinner at The Groove. The service there was spectacular and the food was out of this world. The hotel stay was wonderful, especially thanks to the very professional staff. It was an outstanding and really enjoyable experience.

We chose this hotel because the room had two available double beds. The room size and facilities were okay, but there was nowhere convenient to charge things. The sockets were extremely low down, hidden below the bedside table. It’s also a bit far from central Ancona. The worst part was receptionist Francesco, who was impolite, even rude, and had no manners. When he asked me to check and sign a form, he just pointed in our direction instead of politely asking me to sign there. I travel internationally a lot and had never encountered that kind of behavior at check-in. Nobody greeted us in the breakfast room either.

The staff were friendly, no complaints about them. The room was roomy enough, but the air conditioning kept cutting out, apparently because some automatic air pressure shutoff was malfunctioning. There wasn’t even a way to make tea or coffee in the room. You have to rent a kettle from reception, which is annoying for a hotel at this level. It’s a spa hotel, so I suppose it can be the destination itself, but it’s some distance from Ancona center and not walkable. We needed a car. I probably wouldn’t return.
