Hotel Dorico

The staff at reception were pleasant, and for the price we paid, we weren’t disappointed. The place is old and dated, including the bathroom, and there’s only a fan instead of air conditioning, but everything was quite clean. The room was cleaned daily and toiletries replenished. Parking on the street in front costs extra, and spaces are scarce. A few coffee shops and restaurants are around, in a very modest area. There’s no lift.

For 23€ a night, the clean sheets, towels, WiFi, shampoo, fresh air, and quiet room were plenty for me. It’s a good budget option if you just need somewhere to sleep for 1-2 nights. A lot of the negative reviews seem overly dramatic to me. It’s rated two stars, so expect a two-star atmosphere. I’d recommend it.

We found this place last minute on booking dot com after missing our ferry. It was excellent value and about a 15-minute walk from the port. The man at the desk didn’t speak English, but he was still very helpful getting us checked in and giving us the information we needed. The hallway looked shabby, though the room was nicely done up and the bathroom was really clean. I’d recommend staying here.

At €40 for two people for a night in July, the price was great. It’s a very basic place, but the room was clean and had fresh sheets, a hot shower, TV, and a fan. The bed was soft foam, yet we slept well. Handy location for an early boat to Greece or an overnight stop before an early onward train. Just a basic railway station pit stop.
