Hotel Italia

I showed up without a booking at about 4am and they accommodated me without any trouble. The price was good, and the hotel is across the road from the main train station, with easy bus access to the airport. The room was basic but clean, and did the job for a couple of hours’ sleep.

There was only one power outlet for the three beds in our room, and the Wi-Fi barely worked. The connection was poor and slow, and two of us couldn’t connect at all. The bright blinking smoke sensor kept us awake, and the walls were so thin we could hear our neighbor’s TV and music all night. The photos are very misleading. The rooms look much worse than pictured, shabby and run down, as though they might have looked like that 60 years ago. The smell was awful, especially for non-smokers, since smoking in the rooms doesn’t seem to be prohibited. It’s supposedly a “Hotel,” but there’s one bathroom with a shower and toilet shared by the whole floor, more like a hoStel. We couldn’t even use the toilet in peace because the bathroom door wouldn’t lock. This place doesn’t deserve even one star. 10/10 would not recommend.

It wasn’t a bad stay, but I’d look around before deciding. The place is old and needs updating, and it feels a little overpriced. The pictures look nothing like what’s there, perhaps they show it in its past glory. The power point was too small for newer plugs. Also, keep a copy of your booking or you won’t get breakfast at the cafe next door.

It’s basic, nothing like five-star, but it’s not trash either. It’s near the train station and bus terminal. I wouldn’t bother with breakfast, since there are cafes all over.
