NH Ancona

I paid about 140% more for a single room than a double room was listed for on a booking app for the same night. The room was completely unacceptable for that price. Look at the photo of the shower entrance. I'm 116 kg. I wouldn't trust them, and wouldn't book ahead.

The front desk service was great, and breakfast was good too. But I left a pure linen white shirt in the closet when I checked out, and the cleaner had been checking the minibar and hangers without telling reception. There was no lost-and-found information when I asked about the shirt, which cost only 60 euros. Also, just before checkout, a strange cleaner knocked once; when I opened the door, nobody was there. I hope the hotel improves its management, because this could become a major problem for both guests and the hotel.

We loved the view of the cathedrals, and the city centre was just a short walk away. Our room was spacious and had a comfortable bed, plus everything we needed, including a kettle, bathrobes and toothbrushes. The amenities were eco-friendly, which we appreciated. Staff gave us a really warm, attentive welcome for our birthday weekend, and the water and sweets in the welcome corner were a lovely touch. We'd definitely stay at NH Ancona again.

The breakfast was okay, and the lobby has that nice look you see in old European hotels. The hotel sits on a hill with a lovely view, but the room smelled bad. The furniture is very, very old and has an unpleasant smell too. With prices not especially low, they should have replaced it.
