Check-in was already a bad start. Reception was supposed to be open from 17:00-20:30, but nobody was there and the residence entrance was locked, even though we’d messaged the hotel with our arrival time. We called a mobile number and waited 20 minutes. When the receptionist showed up, he was rude and barely said anything, not even “ciao.” The old building was very hot. Our room was large, but the air conditioner was a noisy little unit on wheels, fixed in place and aimed straight at the bed. It never really cooled the room, and the hose came loose as soon as we switched it on. We saw it had been taped in place. The cold air blowing on our backs and the noise meant we slept terribly. When we tried to shut the window, the curtain fell down too. The fridge was old and a bit dirty, and didn’t cool anything. Water we put in was still room temperature the next day. The bathroom had a toilet, bidet, shower, sink and washing machine, but the machine was so close to the bidet that sitting on it was awkward. A really bad experience. NEVER AGAIN!

The room was clean, and WiFi was provided. The staff were friendly, and the location is very close to the center.

It’s basic, but has what you need for a stopover.

The residence is lovely, set in a historic building, and the location makes it easy to walk to all the restaurants. The downside is parking: it isn’t close by, so expect a 10-15 minute walk each time.

4/10
The owner was kind, and being so close to the historic center was handy. It’s also useful if you need a kitchen, and we had a good stay overall. Still, a three-star place should have more of the basics: comfortable mattresses, kitchen cloths or disposable paper towels, and regular room cleaning. We were there four days and never had the room made up. The old blankets could do with being replaced by a duvet, too. The bathroom and kitchen weren’t quite clean enough. A bed and bathroom alone don’t make a place welcoming.
