Verdemilia Hotel

My colleague and I stayed here for 14 nights while working at the Ducati factory, and we paid €327 a night. The company booked late, during a local festival or fair when most hotels were full, but this place, which is under three stars, charged us three times the €90 price it was listed at when I left. I felt taken advantage of as a foreign traveler. The laundry was just as bad. We left about 30 items, mostly small garments, and were told it would take a day or two. Four days later, they wanted €200, saying they used an outside laundry service. We negotiated that down to €100 in exchange for room service every other night, which was still too much. It then took another four days to get the one extra room cleaning they provided. We went five days without fresh towels or cleaning, and when we asked the front desk for towels, they said they’d check, but none came. I travel around the USA for work and have been to Europe a few times. I’ve stayed in some shady dumps, but I’ve never had service this poor or seen such little care for cleanliness. We paid €5000 to stay here. The management or decision makers are greedy and awful, and the coffee was the worst I had anywhere in Italy. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

The staff were warm, chatty, and caring, and everyone spoke English, which made the atmosphere pleasant. My room was a decent size and very tidy, though the design and decor felt dated. Breakfast had excellent coffee but not much food to choose from. For the price, it’s good value, especially with one free night for every six nights booked. The hotel is in Anzola dell'Emilia, near the village center and almost across from a large Conad supermarket with a launderette and café. There are several restaurants and gelaterias in the village, and bus 87 goes to the city center of Bologna in about 40 minutes.

It was easy to get to, with free parking, and you can buy bus tickets at the hotel. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, service was fast, and there’s a smoking area.

The service was very nice. The bathrooms are a little dated.
