Locanda Aquila Nera

After visiting the museum, we had a lovely family lunch here. The restaurant had a local feel, the service was great, and the food was delicious and came out very quickly. We’d happily recommend it.

I stayed at the Aquila Nera in August 2023 and would gladly return next year. It’s an excellent family-run business, with spacious, comfortable rooms, very good food and friendly staff. Many thanks to Elisa, Isabella and Anna, the waitresses, and Raffaele at the bar, as well as the pizza cook. Sabina even offered to drive me to the bus stop in her own car. My thanks also to manager Pierluigi Mattiussi, his fiancée and Mr. Mattiussi , sr. Grazie mille!

The room was clean, but the mattress was awful and made a good night’s sleep impossible. Thankfully, we’d only booked two nights, so the damage to our backs was limited. It was cold in the room with no heating. The shower head had a small fault and wouldn’t stay on the sliding bar, though the hot water worked. The pizza was good, and so was the coffee, but those were the only things we’d recommend. We found the restaurant terrible: most menu dishes were marked as using frozen ingredients, even the mixed salad came from a bag and was old and wrinkled. The aglio-olio pasta was far too salty. Poor quality for the price.

We stopped here for a date after visiting the Archaeological Museum and had pizza with red beer. The food and service were outstanding, and the waiter and waitresses were phenomenal.
