Agriturismo Maso Botes

We arrived expecting to give Maso Botes 4.5/5, but left saying we’d never return. The biggest problem was a €50 nightly charge for a baby cot, which hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. I’d only asked if one was available, and they said yes. We were then charged at checkout. When we questioned it, the staff blamed us for not asking whether it cost extra and showed no empathy. They said a third person in a triple room costs €50 a day, treating our four-month-old like a full-price adult. Ten nights would add up to €500, more than the cot itself. There was no apology or solution, just blame. In 17 years of travelling around Europe and stays in ten countries on this road trip, no hotel had pulled this before. Parents, skip Maso Botes and book somewhere else at Garda Lake. Don’t let the nice pictures fool you or ruin your vacation.

We were really disappointed with our stay at Maso Botes at the end of May 2025. When I asked if a baby cot was available, they said “sure” without mentioning a €50 nightly charge, then billed us for it at checkout. In ten European countries on this trip, I’d never had a hotel charge for a cot each night, especially not €50. When we questioned the bill, the staff were curt and dismissive and said we should have asked whether it cost extra. Their reasoning was that every guest is equal and a third person in the room costs €50 a day, so apparently a four-month-old counts as a full-paying adult. Over ten nights that would be €500, more than double the cot’s price. The attitude felt arrogant and unhelpful. There was no apology or compromise, only blame. We would have rated the place 4.5/5 before this, but after the experience we wouldn’t choose it again. Save yourself the frustration and stay elsewhere.

The way they handled our questions was embarrassing and very unfriendly. They argued that when I asked if the cot was available, I hadn’t asked whether it was a paid extra. We’d asked for cots during a road trip through ten other European countries and no hotel had charged us extra. They offered no support or attempt to find a solution when I explained my surprise. They said every guest counts equally and that a third person in a triple room normally costs €50 per day. So our four-month-old was treated like any other guest, even though hotels that charge for cots usually charge around 30-50€ for the whole stay, regardless of its length. The cot costs 200€. For ten nights, their fee would be 10x50€ = 500€. I’d have rated the place 4.5 out of 5, but that attitude toward my baby girl was poor. They were impolite and arrogant, and we’re never going back.

The homemade breakfast was a delicious start to each day, and the room was both comfortable and stylish. The family staff were attentive and welcoming throughout our stay. Maso Botes Family Hotel in Arco has beautifully kept grounds and breathtaking views over Lago di Garda. A memorable spot for a business trip or vacation, and one I’d highly recommend.
