Hotel Concorde

The balcony had a lovely lake view, and the walk into town was short enough. That’s about where the good points ended for me. The balcony chairs were flimsy and uncomfortable, while the room was dirty, shabby, and nowhere near worth a four-star price. The toilet was loose and the shower barely trickled. Staff were pleasant, but didn’t make much effort to help. We ate at the hotel restaurant once, then chose to eat elsewhere.

The rooms were very narrow and old, and there was barely room to move in the bathroom. Towels were changed every day, and the waiters were especially cheerful and friendly. The food was another story: dinner was a ready-made sort of beef steak, more like unpleasant ground meat. Breakfast had some variety, but the food sat in the boxes all week. Getting anything beyond what they offered cost a lot, including 20 euros for two slices of prosciutto and melon. I’d suggest the small restaurants in Arona instead.

I couldn’t sleep that night, so I opened the window and insects came in. The air conditioning wasn’t working. When I asked at reception, the woman said they had shut it off because it wasn’t that hot outside, then said they’d turned it on, though it was still off. They put me in a very small, very old room. I won’t come back.

The restaurant had a good view, but that was the only thing I liked. The bed was uncomfortable, the towels smelled bad, and the room felt old and hot without proper cooling. Reception told me to open the window for cooler air, which brought insects inside. I’d never stay here again.
