This place is a gem in Assisi, just a three-minute walk from Basilica of St Francis. We had a pleasant welcome, a warm smile, and very professional hospitality. We asked about a late checkout and were happy to pay extra. A staff member said the rooms were fully booked for the next day, so we could stay another 30 minutes for free. We planned the next day around that, especially since we were travelling with a six-month-old baby. The next morning, another woman was at reception and also serving breakfast. She was extremely rude in the restaurant. Nobody had told us the plates were already set on the table, so when we came in for breakfast we tried to take plates. She snapped that they were already there. How were we supposed to know if no one told us? There may have been fewer people taking breakfast, so the white plate on the white tablecloth wasn’t easy to notice. When we were heading to the basilica, this same woman said we had to leave by 10. We politely explained that her colleague had given us another 30 minutes. She responded grumpily and rudely that she wouldn’t allow it, because the cleaner needed to clean the rooms and ours had to be the first one of the day. It’s not just that staff gave us different information. It’s the way this particular staff member treated us and spoke to us. She showed no professionalism with clients and could damage the hotel’s reputation. Apart from this, the overall experience was good.
