The terrace was the one thing I really liked, with its beautiful views. Beyond that, we had a very negative stay. The room wasn’t comfortable, and the bed was two twin beds pushed together without being fastened. The frame looked close to falling apart, there was very little furniture, and the only bin was about the size of a large cup. The listing calls the place “simple,” but that felt like an excuse for very little effort. There’s no air conditioning, and the room didn’t get enough airflow during the intense summer heat, when temperatures went above 95 F. Daniela said it would feel fine if we kept the shutters closed during the day, but that wasn’t our experience. Air conditioning wasn’t specifically promised, though many Americans may expect that kind of amenity. I’d strongly advise against staying here in summer, especially with a young child. We also got confusing messages from Daniela and felt unwelcome, as if we were a burden. The room was meant to have access to a shared kitchen, but her “welcome” email said we couldn’t use it. Later, she partly changed that and said we could use it just to make coffee. We spoke several times by phone, but her communication was unclear throughout. A day after we arrived, with no warning beforehand, Daniela demanded cash. I’d booked with a credit card, and the terms didn’t say cash was required. She first said she didn’t accept cards. When I explained that Italian law required her to, she agreed that it did, then said her card reader had “broken” a few days before our arrival. It looked to me like an attempt to avoid taxes. In the end, I agreed to make a bank transfer because Italian tax authorities could track it. If you stay here and want to pay by card, I’d book through a third party such as Booking.com so she’s required to accept it. I can give the place more than one star only because of the terrace view.
