2/10

The breakfast was far below what we'd reasonably expect. We got one croissant, a few biscuits, two small juice boxes, and small bottles of water. The property later made it sound as though guests had misused the gas, rather than admitting that a safe, working amenity hadn't been provided. That doesn't match what happened from our point of view. When we arrived, there was a strong gas smell in the kitchen, so we had to air it out. Around 18:00 that evening, on Labour Day, we tried to cook, but the gas worked for about two minutes and then stopped. My husband has more than 10 years of maintenance and electrical experience. He checked the cylinder and found it empty. We contacted the owner, who brushed us off and suggested we didn't know how to use a basic gas cylinder, even though we explained that we use gas systems every day. The owner said he'd come within 30 minutes to sort it out. We waited, but he never showed up. Everything was closed for the public holiday, so we couldn't prepare food or find another option, and went to bed hungry. The next day, the cylinder was replaced with a visibly smaller one, a much smaller blue cylinder instead of the original orange one. That raises serious questions about the earlier claim that the original was full and working. We were left without a way to cook, and the experience involved a possible gas safety issue, no response after a promise to come, and no access to basic facilities or food on a national holiday. Based on this, we can't recommend the property.

The two bedrooms are separated by a kitchen, so the layout works well for two couples. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was spacious. Breakfast was poor, though, and note that the parking is in a military zone.

For €40, it wasn't worth it. The room was on a busy street with pedestrians and traffic, smelled strongly of smoke, and breakfast was just rusks and brioche rather than fresh pastries.

The owner lives nearby, cleans every day, and tops up the groceries. He changed our towels and replenished the shower gels during our week there, and helped us find shops and restaurants. The place was well maintained and close to the port. Parking was free and easy, and the price was low. Breakfast was as described: espresso, brioche, waffles, jam, milk, juice, and water.
