Hotel Hirzer 2781

The room was such a letdown. It was old, in need of renovation, and furnished with dated, ugly furniture. Worse, it was dirty, with dust on the floor, mould in the old fashioned shower, and cracks in the walls. The spring bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the bedsheets were the lowest quality you can find around. We couldn't believe we were paying 300€/night. We were also near the stairs, where people would hang out and chat right outside our door. When we raised our concerns and asked to move, staff said everything was booked and offered no other option. I can't believe we paid so much for a place claiming to be “luxury”. We were extremely disappointed, and won't go back. Don't let the pool, spa area, and dining experience fool you. They don't make up for ending up in such an underrated room.

The food was excellent, and everyone was welcoming and professional. Merano and Schenna are down the hill; buses run there too. Definitely worth going.

The spa was so relaxing, and our room was really nice. I’m vegan, and the kitchen went out of its way to make sure I enjoyed my meals. The staff were incredibly friendly. I can’t recommend Hotel Hirzer enough.

We loved our stay so much that we changed our plans and added another night. On a three-week trip around northern Italy, our schedule was pretty packed, but we wanted more time to enjoy the calm and relaxation we felt as soon as we arrived. We were in the Hafling area in June 2024, after finding Hotel Hirzer 2781 while searching Google Maps for places along our route through the Dolomites. The reviews and photos caught our attention, and we booked what we thought would be a one-night stop. We were the first Canadians to stay there, which felt like a real honor. Our room was spotless, stylish, spacious and still cozy, with a beautiful mountain view. Fresh fruit and a welcome note with our names were waiting for us, and it had everything we needed. The quiet mountain setting has stayed with us. The hotel is family-run, and you feel that from the first welcome at reception. Luis, Evelyn, Thomas, Carolyn and the whole team were attentive, warm and clearly committed to looking after guests. They were personable and made sure we had what we needed. Their hospitality training showed in how professionally the place is managed, while the atmosphere still felt friendly and homey. The mountain decor fit the setting perfectly. We had half board, with breakfast and dinner at our table by the dining room windows. The view over the beautifully maintained grounds and pool was lovely. There were flower beds and plants that I believe Evelyn and her family tended themselves. We only wish we'd had time to use the pool. The dining room was clean and fresh, with indoor and outdoor seating. The food and service were both amazing; our server chatted with us about where we were from and how the trip was going. Each meal had a great selection, the wine choices were just as good, and the dishes looked like little works of art. We also had a great time nearby, taking a cable car up the mountain for tea among the Italian Alps and trying the toboggan for the first time at Alpin Bob Meran 2000. There’s plenty to do in the area. The summer scenery was beautiful, and if we get the chance to return, we’d happily stay here again. I’d recommend booking at least one night, though two or more would give you more time to enjoy it.
