Residence Moritz

This was my second stay at Residence Moritz in three years, and it's a reliable choice. The owners are very kind and available if anything comes up. Everything was perfect, and the apartments were spotless with beautiful mountain views and all the comforts. The residence has two newly built buildings, around 1,400 meters above sea level in Avelengo, a village about 15 km above Merano. If I had to pick a flaw, the TV only had German channels, not Italian ones.

The room was well equipped and very clean, and the location was quiet with good soundproofing. The view was great too. We could definitely see ourselves coming back.

The "Himmelsschlüssel" (Key to Heaven) is a beautiful, new apartment with large windows facing the mountains, a spacious terrace and lawn, and good mattresses. Service was friendly. The drawbacks stood out, though. It's right on the only access road, so trucks, motorcycles, and German tourists bring constant road noise. The shower design is poor: the slope is too shallow and the drain too small, so water can flood the floor. There's just one towel hook, even though the apartment can sleep three. The pull-out TV sofa is awful to sleep on, since you sink into it and it squeaks with every move. Cooking is limited too, as there aren't extra pots or pans unless you're just making pasta.

We stayed in the Iffinger apartment at Residence Moritz. It was very nice and clean, and the west-facing terrace gave us a few sunny hours to unwind after a long hike. The owners are very friendly, and the private-use sauna was lovely. We were completely satisfied with this nice holiday apartment.
