Hotel Oliva

The staff were really great, and breakfast was good and free. There’s also a bar open around the clock. It’s less than ten minutes from AFB.

The biggest letdown was breakfast. We were told it ran from 6:00 to 10:00, but when we arrived at 9:00, half the dishes were gone and many bowls were empty or just had scraps left. I expected them to be replenished, as they are at other hotels. An administrator came in, adjusted the lids on empty bottles, then left. They could have been refilled instead. I still don’t understand why we paid full price for breakfast and got leftovers, with many dishes missing. I was also disappointed that no one responded to the problem of breakfast being virtually absent. Our triple room was cramped, with no kitchen or bath with a shower, even though I expected rooms like the ones in the photos. It felt like the hotel thought this would be enough for us. The room was old and dirty in spots, with grimy walls, a crooked mirror, stains on the ceiling, and a hairdryer so dirty and old it was disgusting to touch. Its cord was there to keep it from falling apart. We paid for three-star service, but I’d give it two because of the breakfast shortfall. The bathroom mirror and a new hairdryer also had to be requested? The hotel did meet three-star standards, no more. The lights went out completely several times during our stay, and the WiFi didn’t work. Checkout was at 11:00, yet at 10:00 the cleaners were already knocking and seemed surprised we were still there. I wouldn’t stay a second time. The service doesn’t match the price.

Elisa, Federica and Debora made my stay feel special. They were warm and caring every time I came in, always smiling, and went out of their way to help. Their food suggestions and help with translations were much appreciated. As someone visiting Europe for the first time, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the people at Hotel Oliva made me feel welcome. I stayed for two weeks and felt completely at home. The room had everything I needed, and the breakfast spread was lovely each morning. The espresso was always just right. Having access to the kitchen area at any hour was handy for leftovers and other basics. Thank you for such thoughtful hospitality. I’ll be back soon!

The room was comfortable, and the hotel is close to all the amenities. Staff were great. Coffee, water and ice were available 24 hours a day.
