The breakfast was superb, with lots to choose from. Dinner was good too, serving simple, tasty Italian mountain food, rich with butter and cheese. Vegetarian choices could be better. Two very kind sisters now run the hotel after taking it over from their parents, and the whole place feels wonderfully welcoming. Our spotless room was cleaned perfectly every day by two cheerful, kind women. The bus stop is almost right outside, with buses to either Frachey or Champoluc.

This family-run hotel is simple, clean and very friendly, and they make the stay feel comfortable. Our room was cleaned every day and the showers were nice and warm. Breakfast and dinner were included, with traditional Italian food that was great, though not every dish was something the children liked. It’s on the edge of Champouluc. You can walk the trail to the Crest ski lift in about 15 minutes, or take the free bus. We were there over Christmas and there was snow on the slopes. The skiing was fantastic, with bright sun and crisp air at 2,975 metres. Many runs are marked red or black, though to me they felt more like blue or red runs by Scandinavian grading.

The food impressed us, as did all the little touches around the hotel, inside and out. The staff made us feel so welcome, and both the room and the view were stunning. It was cosy and Christmassy, and we felt at home. We’ll definitely come back in spring!

I stayed for a week while skiing at Monterosa, and I’ll definitely return. The place is cosy, the rooms are excellent, and the staff and service were great. It’s about a ten-minute walk to the main gondola, and walking through the park is a lovely route that doesn’t get old. Make sure to have dinner here too. The food is excellent, with plenty of local dishes to try without spending too much.
