Residence Ciasa Ulli

I work in tourism and hospitality, where welcoming people is part of the job. I usually take complaints straight to management instead of posting a negative review, but this experience pushed me to write one. The owner came across as arrogant and indifferent. He was often absent and hard to reach, and at times, frankly, a little rude. I won't get into the personal details, but people who act this way do real harm to a profession built on passion.

The location in the village and the wider Val Badia area are both good, and the place was very clean. Covered and open-air parking were available too. Beyond that, our stay at Ciesa Ulli was a letdown. The apartment was advertised for 3-4 people, but it was really a tiny studio. The kitchenette felt cramped even for two, never mind two adults and two children. It had the feel of a beach apartment, which is the opposite of what you'd expect in the mountains. The playground listed in the ad wasn't there, and the ping pong table had no rackets or balls, so it was unusable. The Miele appliances were good quality but quite old, and both the fridge and electric stove gave us trouble. The price was very high for what was on offer, and the money saved by having no one on site didn't seem to improve the value. I never saw Mr. Ulli during our 10 days. The residence reception was always empty, and even when I went to the Las Vegas resort it was hard to find him. Calls to Mr. Ulli were often interrupted, and he said he wasn't feeling well. After the third call, I gave up because it was so difficult to communicate. The website description was very misleading.

Ulli is a really pleasant person, and the residence is welcoming and well looked after. Our apartment was nicely furnished, with a well-stocked kitchen: dishwasher tablets were provided, and there was a fridge and a stovetop with fast electric burners. The shower had plenty of water, and it was very hot. There was also a large TV, a garage, and a lovely terrace.

I've come back to Ulli for a ski week for the second year in a row. The apartments are spotless, the service is impeccable, and the lifts are just a short walk away. Ulli and the staff are wonderful!
