Borgo Bottaia

We brought our family and friends together at Borgo Bottaia for a full week around our wedding at nearby Villa Corsini, and the whole stay was unforgettable. The small staff made everyone feel welcome. They were gracious, attentive, and kind with every request, which helped make the week feel easy and special. There was plenty of privacy for our group, along with the beauty of the Tuscan countryside and genuinely warm hospitality. The apartments and grounds were charming and well cared for, with hills and olive trees all around. It was hard to imagine a better place to gather the people we love, and we’re grateful for the memories and for the staff who helped create them. We couldn’t have asked for a better setting, whether for a celebration or a quiet Tuscan getaway. We can’t recommend Borgo Bottaia enough.

A peaceful spot where you wake to birdsong and get an incredible view of the Tuscan countryside. I’d absolutely suggest it to anyone wanting to get away from the city.

We loved the peaceful atmosphere and those beautiful countryside views from all over the property. The pool was wonderful, too. It’s surprising that Florence is only 7 km away. We had a car, so getting to nearby towns and cities was easy, though Grassina is just a 1 km walk and you can catch a bus there to Florence. Luigi and his staff made us feel very welcome. Our four days here were lovely, and the apartments were roomy, clean, and furnished reasonably well. Grazie grazie. We’ll be back one day.

The local wine is pretty good, and there’s something special about the quiet here. One morning, after the children had left and before we headed to our flight to the UK, I sat with Luigi on a stone fence and mentioned how peaceful it was. He smiled and said, “tranqilita.” That says it well. Tuscany has that feeling, too. We stayed with a school group from NZ a few years ago. The location was superb, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The countryside views at dawn and dusk have stayed with me. There’s no catering on site, but Luigi was happy to arrange for someone to bring food from the village now and then. A car might be useful, though we managed without one. The local bus gets you into Florence, to Piazza San Marco for us, in under half an hour. You can buy tickets at the biglietteria in the Tabacchi by Grassina’s central bus stop. Getting there from Borgo Battaia is a refreshing walk of about a kilometre. The pool was excellent for cooling off after a day walking around Florence and elsewhere.
