Hotel Regina del Mare

The view from our sea-view room was spectacular, and the room was comfortable apart from the heat. Breakfast was simple and really good, with fresh fruit, croissants, eggs, and coffee made to order. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they even sorted out the trip from the Maronti bus stop: someone picked us and our bags up, then took us to the hotel steps by water taxi. They brought us back to the bus or taxi stop when we checked out, which made a big difference to our stay. A couple of things to know: there’s no AC in the rooms, and August got very hot, making sleep difficult at times. Reaching the hotel can be tricky too. Don’t trust your GPS; it’s 15-20 minutes to Maronti bus stop, and you can easily take the bus from Ischia Porto. There’s no direct beach access or beach chairs at the hotel, so you’ll need to walk 2 minutes to rent chairs and an umbrella. Staff don’t speak much English, but we knew all this before booking, so those issues were on us, including the language one. We should learn some of their language. For sunbeds and an umbrella, try Mossimo. They offered a good price, 20-25Euros for two people for the whole day, and it was well worth it. Water taxis that stop near the hotel or along Maronti Beach can take you to Sant Angelo or Fumerole. There’s also a hiking path behind the hotel, about 20-25 mins on foot. Wear comfortable shoes; the views from above are nice too.
