A few restaurants are even closer than the towns, and there are plenty more in the small towns a 15-20 minute drive away. We mostly only needed to sort out breakfast, so bring cereal, bread, milk, or ham and cheese from a local supermarket. We loved our stay and hope to come back soon. If you’re after a quiet rural break in Tuscany, this is a great fit: it sits on a small hill among a couple hundred acres of olive groves and woodland, reached by a quarter-mile private gravel driveway.

Podere Patrignone was a beautiful place for the small, personal wedding we wanted, with our closest family and friends able to stay on site. Simon helped with every part of the planning and made it much less stressful. He organized great activities around the wedding, helped us find a chef for the wedding meal and a private Italian cooking class, and arranged a personalized wine tasting and a rehearsal dinner venue near the property. He also helped us coordinate a florist, hair stylist, makeup artist, and photographer. His sense of humor kept us laughing throughout our stay. We had an amazing experience and couldn’t imagine a better intimate wedding.

We had the whole villa for a week with family and friends for our October 2025 wedding, and the weather couldn’t have been better. It made for the best week of my life. The villa and grounds were incredible, with apartment-style rooms and several suites with kitchenettes. We gathered most days in the main kitchen and shared spaces, and everything left everyone speechless. Simon was around to help at the villa and share his local knowledge. You’re a short drive from Florence and Pisa, with lovely small towns in every direction, and the views are unreal. The property has walking paths, wonderful plants and herbs, a pool with an awesome view, and rows of olive trees. The catered wedding dinner was the best food I’ve ever had. If you get the chance, drive to Pestello in Castellina for the steak. We can’t recommend Podere Patrignone and Simone enough. It’s a Tuscan dream.

For a week with our two teenage kids, Podere Patrignone felt relaxed and homely, even if it wasn’t super polished. The boys spent loads of time at the pool and wandering through the woods. There are dozens of restaurants around, including some outstanding pizzas that were a hit with kids and parents alike. We were close to the main sights but away from the crowds, so we could enjoy sunsets each night with a big glass of Chianti Classico. We had a ball and I’ll definitely return.

There was a huge storm while we were here, with trees down and major problems across the area. As soon as the sun came back, the owners had cleared the pool of debris and made it immaculate so the kids could swim within an hour. That says a lot about the place. The atmosphere is so calming, it’s easy to relax and recharge. The apartments are rustic and authentically furnished, with everything you need, and the view is impossible to capture in photos. The pool area is lovely and the water was clean and clear, just right for cooling off after a morning sightseeing. Shops and food markets are a short drive away, so you’ll need a car, and there are excellent restaurants nearby. We also spotted deer and lots of wild boar, which was an unexpected treat. We’re leaving today and wish we could stay longer. Can’t wait to come back to this wonderful agriturismo!
