This historic, distinctive place is well maintained and sits in the lovely, peaceful hill village of Tovo San Giacomo, in the hamlet of Bardino Nuovo. Pietra Ligure is easy and quick to reach. The place has an unusual rustic charm and is in a picturesque spot, though it's not easy to reach. At first glance, the double room seems a little worn, but the care given to cleanliness and the details shows the management's approach. It won't suit people looking for a 4-star experience, but those who like unusual, rustic places should enjoy it. We had a positive stay. The lady might have smiled a little more, but we're in Liguria, so you can't expect too much. He was kind and welcoming, dressed casually rather than like a hotel receptionist, which is part of the charm.

The house is a 16th-century convent, and the place feels magical, full of energy. Each brick, stone, and piece of wood seems to have a story, if you know how to listen and want to. Staying here brings a kind of physical and sensory well-being. I used it as a base for a weekend motorcycle trip, but it deserves to be experienced throughout the day. The owners are very kind, and chatting with Mrs. Daniela was both enjoyable and culturally enriching. Breakfast in that setting is worth far more than 5 stars. Tip: leave your car or motorcycle in the parking lot of the Il Caminetto pizzeria, walk 30 meters down the road, and step into history. Thank you. Luca Turin
