Finding this hostel in broad daylight was a disaster. I can only imagine how much worse it would be after dark. Google put #7 on the wrong side of the street, and somehow the number was mixed in among all the even-numbered buildings. Once I found it, the buzzer unlocked the door and gave me instructions in Italian. In the poor light I wandered through every floor, after quickly learning to use the pre war lifts. They’re cool, but not when you’re hauling a heavy trolley bag. By luck, another guest was leaving and opened the ground-floor door to this miserable hostel, then explained how check-in worked. Of all the hostels I stayed in from Athens to Bari, this was by far the worst. C'mon Booking.com, don’t you care about a duty of care to ensure your listings meet some minimum standard? The one good thing I can say is that it was free of bed bugs.

I stayed in a six-bed dorm and found the place loud, dirty, poorly managed, and not worth the price. There’s no privacy curtain or personal reading light by the beds, and the room gets no natural light. People cooked at 5 AM, took calls in the middle of the night, and switched on lights without considering anyone else. There don’t seem to be any basic quiet rules. The room has the only bathroom, so when someone took a long shower there was nowhere else to go. After the previous guest left, someone rushed in and I had to run to the nearest café at 9 AM just to use the toilet. The bathroom had visible mold and a poorly maintained shower, and the general cleanliness was bad. Supplies were limited too, just two rolls of toilet paper a day for six people, and they were gone by 6 PM. There are no keys or locks, so anyone can walk into your room. Entry to the building depends on a link sent to your phone, which leaves you locked out if your battery dies or you have no internet. There’s no proper reception. The only person I saw was cleaning staff, who asked every day if I was leaving even though I’d said I was staying a week. The kitchen was basically a fridge and a few wooden boards, with no real cooking area. The balcony looked abandoned, with cigarette butts in the flowerpots and no plants or upkeep. I travel a lot, and this is one of the worst hostels I’ve stayed in. Maybe it could work as a private room for a couple who don’t mind bathroom mold. I’d strongly advise against staying here. There are much better options elsewhere.

As a woman traveling alone, I didn’t feel safe here and wouldn’t recommend it. It was difficult to find, there’s no reception, just other guests, and someone was already in my bed when I arrived. The other guests were all older men. One of them harassed me during the night, so I left in the middle of the night and the police helped me find another place. Maybe it would be fine for men traveling in a pair, but I wouldn’t suggest a woman stay here.

Stay away from this awful hostel. It was dirty and smelly, things were falling apart, and there wasn’t any shared space. The towel and bed sheet were dirty or missing, and I never saw any staff.

Getting into the hostel was chaos. We stayed three nights, and the door only unlocked properly once. The entry instructions were all wrong, and the help we got over the phone was awful. Inside, the rooms were alright, but the beds were pretty uncomfortable, and the door was broken with no lock. The bathroom was moldy, the shower was broken, and it was the only bathroom, located inside the room. Don’t go here, even the low price isn’t worth it.
