Bed And Breakfast Top Class

The bathroom was filthy, with a yellowed shower curtain, nowhere to put things, and a location at the end of a long corridor outside the room that made washing difficult. The fridge was completely empty, so without the water we brought, we’d have had nothing to drink. The mattresses had springs sticking out, the thin quilts were spring-filled, the sheets were yellow and smelled unpleasant, and the pillows were too dirty to use. Breakfast amounted to two capsules for an old coffee machine. The entrance didn’t feel secure. There wasn’t a proper front door, just a wood and glass door that opened with a touch. With our one-year-old daughter there, we were afraid someone could climb the main gate and get in, and we barely slept for three nights. We’d told them we had a very small child, but they didn’t seem to take that seriously. When we got home, she got sick. To avoid staying in that dump, we left at 6 in the morning and came back late at night.

We were only passing through and booked a night to split up the trip, but left in a hurry. The rooms looked nothing like the photos, and the owner didn’t meet us. He gave directions over the phone instead. We’d asked for a double bed, but got two singles in what seemed to be a dining room. The bathroom was at the end of a corridor with several doors opening onto it, so there was no privacy. It wasn’t clean, and the room smelled bad. Shabby!

There was no staff on site, and questions had to go through a WhatsApp number. The place calls itself a B&B, but there wasn’t breakfast, just a coffee machine and snacks. I was first offered a dim basement room, with the option to pay more for a room on the first floor. The bathroom looked like it dated from the 1950s, and the plastic shower curtain let water drip onto the floor.

The basement room was cramped, run-down, and unsuitable for three people. The place looked far from the photos, more like a motel with rooms by the hour than a B&B. There was no breakfast, the vending machine was broken, and no staff were on site. Check-in was remote, with no passport check, which didn’t feel safe, and the tourist tax was left in the mailbox. The bedspread was torn, the bathroom was dirty, small, and windowless, the outlets were loose, there wasn’t a bedside table for each bed, and there was nowhere suitable for luggage. The bidet had been replaced by a shower that dripped onto the floor. The shower had no doors, and the awful curtain rested against moldy edges. The bathroom stool was filthy, the toilet seat was worn from age and use, the closet was broken, and the soap had been watered down. Wi-Fi was weak, and we had to call to get the password. I wonder how they pass the local health authority (ASL) checks and how they justify not registering their documents.
