Gatto Bianco Apartment

There was coffee and food for a basic breakfast, and the air conditioning was very powerful. The guest house itself was nice, with a large, clean, well-furnished apartment. The shower was the drawback: one of its two enclosure doors was missing, and the showerhead holder was broken, so using it without flooding the bathroom was really difficult.

The staff were kind and professional, and breakfast was included. The rooms were clean and spacious, with stylish furniture and very comfortable beds. It's about 100 meters from Bari's main street and an easy walk from the railway station. Excellent in every way.

Getting into the room was a hassle. We were told to call half an hour before check-in, which was awkward after arriving on an overnight ferry with both phone batteries dead. After we called to give notice, we still waited outside on the street for 15 minutes before anyone opened the door. The housekeeper then asked when we were leaving a full hour before checkout, even though we'd had to wait almost an hour after check-in time to get into the room. The room looked nice at first, but so much was broken or unusable: the toilet, coffee maker, window shutters, and door deadbolt. The dining table was too unstable to use, and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. Dealing with the place was more trouble than it was worth, and we left with a very unpleasant impression.

A little old-fashioned, but clean and well equipped. I stupidly left my bag behind, and they went out of their way to get it back to me. Nice place.
