The person who handed over the keys was friendly and asked if the room was okay. That, along with the working hot water and a bed that was small for someone bigger but manageable, earns the place its second star. The AC worked too, and someone had cleaned the bathroom floor by morning. There was no controller, though, and we were told to unplug the unit if it got too cold. We had to stand on each other to reach the socket. The apartment's main door was left unlocked, and we only had keys for our own room. There was dirt everywhere, no towels, blankets, or WiFi, and the shared bathroom had no lock and was very dirty. Behind the wardrobe we found a half-eaten pretzel. Thankfully, we didn't notice cigarette or urine smells. We paid 80 euros for a room I felt was worth 20. I'd only suggest staying here if you really need somewhere for one night. Next time, a bottle of rum and sleeping on the beach might be just as good an option.

We got to Bari late, so we felt stuck and stayed one night, though we ended up walking around the city instead of sleeping there. Even that short stay was terrifying. The owner was extremely rude. The room reeked of cigarettes, the furniture looked like it belonged in a horror movie, and broken blinds left the window uncovered. There were awful mosquitoes and other insects. The owner said that was normal for Bari. He told us not to use the toilet's electricity, then we woke to a room flooded with water and urine. When we called him, he yelled that we had made the mess and should clean it up. We also had no normal water for showering. There were blankets in the wardrobe, but they looked as if they were never changed, so we didn't use them. I gave one star just so I could write a review. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Someone should call a sanitary-epidemiological station, because this isn't normal.

I hated having to give this place even one star, but the form wouldn't let me continue without it. The whole place was a mess, and the room was filthy. They'd had a day's notice that we were coming, yet still wanted us to wait in the hall while he cleaned the bathroom. It smelled of cigarettes and the AC didn't work. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

The flooding in my room came from problems at the hostel, not the weather. It ruined my belongings, and the owner never paid for the damage. There wasn't even an internet connection. Worst hostel I've ever stayed in.

Thank God we managed to find somewhere else to stay. We'd booked two nights for more than 100€, but luckily free cancellation was available. The house looked abandoned, wasn't even locked, and smelled bad and creepy. The bed was only a 1.5 bed, with a single pillow for two people.
