Pane & Pomodoro Beach Roomy Flat

The beachfront location was a real plus: just cross the road to reach the beach, and there's a nearby bus stop for an easy ride to the city center. The apartment was spacious, clean, and the host communicated well. But the flat seemed neglected despite having once been extremely luxurious. Some lights didn't work, wires were exposed at switches that felt dangerous to touch, especially in the bathroom, the kitchen drain was partly blocked, the torch battery was dead, the mosquito nets were falling apart, and one window was broken. We came in February, when it was about 10°C outside, and the lack of heating was the biggest problem. With stone floors, the only way to warm the flat was using the two AC units, one in the living room and one in a bedroom. There wasn't one in the second bedroom. It was really cold on arrival, and took two days to feel even just okay. The kitchen was disappointing and sparsely equipped, with some very old items. The new frying pan didn't work on the induction hob. We planned to cook but soon gave up. The electricity was so weak that we couldn't cook and use the kettle at the same time without repeated trips to the fuse box. There wasn't enough hot water for the two of us, so we had to take turns planning our showers. We were also surprised there was no WiFi. The host pointed out that the listing did say so, but it honestly didn't occur to me to check because WiFi is standard in rental apartments these days. I wouldn't have minded as much if mobile data coverage were better, but the signal was very poor for some reason. They provided just one roll of toilet paper for two people for a week. It may sound like a small thing, but it added to the feeling that the hosts were trying to run the place as cheaply as possible.
